Based in Berlin, Henry Widera is an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Technology & Communications Practice. Clients appreciate his sharp mind and deep professional experience, which he applies to support leaders in transforming their leadership teams, business models, and organizations for greater success. Henry is also passionate about sustainable digital transformation as well as diversity, equity and inclusion. Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Henry served as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe. For the digital transformation of Germany’s largest local transport company, Henry was named CIO of the Year 2022 in the Sustainability category. Before that he headed the Corporate Development Group of BIOTRONIK. Earlier, Henry gained invaluable experience in the automotive, engineered products, and high-tech sectors as a strategy consultant and project manager with Roland Berger. That was preceded by the role of Chief Engineer at the Technical University of Berlin (his alma mater) after working as a consultant with the Droege Group in Düsseldorf. Henry earned three degrees with honors: an MBA from Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business as well as a Diplom degree (equivalent to an MA) in industrial engineering and a PhD in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Berlin. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter and playing sports.
