Based in Frankfurt, Manfred Merle is active in Egon Zehnder’s Private Capital and Chief Financial Officers practices in Germany, serving investment professionals, operating partners, and IR professionals in addition to performing executive searches for portfolio companies. Clients value his broad expertise and deep understanding of the characteristics and needs of both worlds, acquired during many years in financial and key executive roles, which Manfred applies to help private equity funds and portfolio CFOs assemble the best possible management teams. Before joining Egon Zehnder, Manfred was the CFO and Managing Director of Frankfurt-based Primärmedizin TMVZ, a healthcare group with focus on acquiring and operating general practitioner and cardiology practices. He was previously active across Germany as an independent consultant and angel investor. Prior to that, Manfred held multiple executive roles culminating in that of CFO and Managing Director at unicorn startup Omio (formerly GoEuro) based in Berlin. That was preceded by nine years as an investment professional with the Frankfurt-based private equity team of Triton Beratungsgesellschaft. Manfred launched his career as an investment banking analyst with Credit Suisse in Frankfurt. Manfred received a Diplom-Kaufmann degree in business administration from the University of Mannheim, including two terms as an exchange student in the MBA program of the Schulich School of Business in Toronto, a semester studying business information systems at the University of Applied Sciences in Furtwangen, and multiple internships. Outside work he enjoys traveling and photography and is part of the growing community of American Football fans in Germany.
