Biography
Nanno de Vries is of Dutch origin and a Swiss national since 1982. After a short career as a professional officer in the Dutch Air Force, he started his studies at the HSG University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). He graduated with a MBA degree in 1974. His business career started as a consultant with an international Swiss-American Management Consulting and Executive Search company in Zurich (1974). 5 years later he joined another leading European Management Consulting and Executive Search company as a Managing Director and Partner with the responsibility of setting up the Swiss and Benelux offices.
In the mid 80's Nanno built up his own international Executive Search organization with 18 offices in 12 countries. At the same time he was co-founder and partner of one of the leading Management Consulting firms in Switzerland, the SCG St. Gall Consulting Group (today part of Mercer).
In 1994 Nanno merged his Executive Search organization with Amrop. From 1995 till today, Nanno has played a major role in extending and consolidating the global network of the Amrop group, with a strong focus on the CEE and APAC region but also on the Americas.
His specialties are Board searches and C-Suite assignments in the Industrial and High-Tech sectors. Nanno is a leading member of both the global Amrop Board and Industry Practices.
Besides his Executive Search Assignments he is regularly involved in Executive Coaching, Executive Onboarding and Leadership Assessment Projects.
Until 2011 Nanno was a leading member of the global Marketing Committee of the Amrop organization and one of the key drivers behind the new global CI/CD installed early 2010.
In 2010 Nanno became Chairman of the Advisory Board of Amrop China with offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. His key responsibilities were to further develop the Chinese Partnership and to implement a long-term marketing and acquisition strategy, also in line with the global standards of the Amrop Partnership. As an active Business Developer he is playing a major role in bridging Amrop China, as well as the Amrop APAC region (10 countries, 13 offices), with the Global Amrop Partnership.
In June 2015, Nanno officially stepped down from his Swiss Partnership, after he successfully completed the succession planning of the Swiss Amrop organization.
Since July 1. 2015 Nanno has been Senior Partner and Shareholder of Amrop China.
He holds an MBA from the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland.
