Biography
Norton Lara leads Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services Practice in Latin America and the Financial Technology and Digital hub in Brazil, a cross-disciplinary unit designed for the digital economy. During his tenure, he has led assignments for both established players and tech-enabled insurgents. His track record includes placing dozens of CEOs/general managers and hundreds of C-level executives.
He also serves other sectors in searches for senior leaders in technology, operations, risk management, data and strategy. He is an active member of the Firm’s Leadership Advisory unit, dealing with executive assessment and development, culture and team effectiveness, among other topics.
Before joining Spencer Stuart, Norton was a partner and executive at IBM GBS Brazil, leading strategy, technology and innovation initiatives for one of Brazil´s leading financial institutions. He also spent more than 12 years in management consulting at Roland Berger, A.T. Kearney and Oliver Wyman, serving clients in Latin America, the US and Europe.
Norton is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Global Nominations Committee, which evaluates and recommends consultants for election to principal and partner. Norton has won Spencer Stuart’s selective Lou Rieger Quality Award, recognizing his distinctive efforts on behalf of his clients.
He is a board member at Instituto Ayrton Senna, Brazil´s premier nonprofit institution dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 education. He is also an angel investor in the tech space.
Norton is an avid reader and traveler. Passionate for languages, he is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. In addition, he has a strong command of French, Italian and German and he speaks and writes Arabic at a basic level. Norton earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and his MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He also attended the University of Heidelberg in Germany and the University of Tunis El Manar, in Tunisia.
