Based in Lima, Rafael Venegas is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Board Practice. Having held several CEO and board roles spanning the finance, banking, insurance and health sectors, he brings a diverse set of C-level knowledge to his client work. As a consultant, he mainly focuses on board, CEO and senior management assignments. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Rafael was the CEO for Rimac Seguros, the leading insurance and health company in Peru. Previously, Rafael was a CEO for several banks in Peru, including Banco Sudamericano (Scotiabank Peru), BankBoston Peru and Citibank Peru. He was also the CEO of Hermes (Brinks Peru) and CEO of one in Colombia as well (Banco Internacional – Citibank). Early in his career, Rafael was a senior consultant for Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), where he worked with clients in Peru, Colombia, Venezuela, the U.S. and the U.K. He then went on to become the CFO for Philips Electronics. Rafael received his bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniera (UNI) in Lima, Peru. He has also completed several post-graduate management programs, including advanced management and strategic human resources management from Harvard University and several chief executive programs from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He also completed a corporate governance for board members program at Ernst & Young and Universidad de Piura, among others.
