Mr. Jonkman's areas of expertise are affecting large scale change, organisational executive leadership development, building high performance teams and individual executive coaching/mentoring. He believes that organisations can increase their impact if they harness the human spirit of the people around them, and that this requires a deep understanding of collective purpose and taking congruent action. Prior to joining Korn Ferry Amsterdam in August 2019, Mr. Jonkman spent five years consulting with a boutique leadership development firm, working with large organisations across the Australasia Region to help them make progress in three fields simultaneously; accelerating strategy, shifting culture and lifting leadership capability. Before becoming a consultant, Mr. Jonkman was a member of the executive team at Save the Children Australia. As Director Shared Value he lead the effort to help commercial organisations drive commercial success by solving social needs. Prior to Save the Children Mr. Jonkman was with National Australia bank, running large teams in business banking, transformation programs, and international strategy. He was also the GM for Leadership and Talent Development looking after the leadership program for the top 250, the emerging talent programs, succession planning, the academy, diversity, and culture. After completing his military service as a platoon commander in the cavalry of the Royal Dutch Army, Mr. Jonkman spent ten years in the investment and wholesale bank at ABN AMRO in several disciplines and countries. Most of his time in banking was spent on the customer side, allowing him to work with and advice hundreds of companies, big and small, across the globe. Over the past decade he has worked part time to make space for pro-bono activities, mostly coaching executives and building leadership capability in the community sector. Mr. Jonkman has lived in eleven different countries, in North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Australia. He has a M.Sc in economics, is an alumnus of the Williamson Community Leadership Program, has been a certified level 3 executive coach for over a decade, and is fully certified in Hogan assessments. Jaap is the father of 3 wonderful children, loves sport and travelling, and enjoys reading on a wide variety of topics.
