Her executive search and coaching work focuses on boards, senior executive management, physician/clinician leadership and functional leadership positions. Additionally, her consulting experience is nationally oriented and includes prominent academic medical centers, multi-hospital nonprofit health systems, higher education and professional healthcare associations. Earlier in her career, Heather held increasingly responsible positions within academic medical center settings. Some of these appointments included Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, Baylor College of Medicine, The Methodist Hospital and The University of Texas Health Sciences Center. Her last clinical post was Chief Nurse of Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. Heather entered consulting upon the advice of Gil Whitaker, Dean of Rice University’s Jones School of Business. It was suggested that consulting would create opportunities to study healthcare across the country and develop expertise outside of nursing. Her consultancy began as a Principal at Heidrick and Struggles where she was eventually promoted to Partner and then Regional Managing Partner. She was then recruited to Korn Ferry as a Senior Partner and has also become an Executive Coach. Heather is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Sigma Theta Tau and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders. She has served on the Board of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and volunteers with the Red Cross Disaster Services Human Resources System. Academic appointments held by Heather have included the University of Texas, Baylor College of Medicine (Department of Psychiatry) and Texas Woman’s University. She received a Master of Business Administration from Rice University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University. She also holds Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degrees from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston. Heather’s Certificate in Organizational and Leadership Coaching is from Northwestern University and she has completed advanced coach training and certification through The Hudson Institute. Her coaching expertise focuses on working with clinician executives on leadership skills, change management, life balance, career development, and team building. Specialization resides around the complexity associated with the changing environment of healthcare systems and times when self discovery may be difficult. Heather is a Certified Coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF).
