Biography
With over 18 years of executive recruitment experience, Mr. McBurney has led more than 400 search assignments at the C-suite, Board of Directors, and executive levels.
His passion is working with clients to solve strategic talent and leadership issues in those commodity driven sectors that fuel the world, agribusiness, food, and energy, and their related services, supply, and technology sectors.
Within Korn Ferry, the Agribusiness Practice covers the spectrum of subsectors from crop inputs, to production agriculture and produce, protein, animal nutrition and health, through to food ingredients.
Mr. McBurney has led searches on behalf of clients across a broad spectrum of corporate structures - from publicly-held, large cap companies to venture capital-backed start-ups.
Prior to joining Korn Ferry in 2002, Mr. McBurney served as an in-house legal counsel. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia after articling with a prominent Canadian law firm.
As a lawyer, Mr. McBurney gained experience in general corporate law, employment law, and international trade dispute resolution working with clients in the mining, agriculture, and forestry sectors.
Mr. McBurney holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Bachelor's Degree (honors) in classical history and Latin American literature from Trent University.
Mr. McBurney currently serves as a Jury Board Member for the Junior Achievement Worldwide, Global Business Hall of Fame. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of Los Angeles.
