Murillo Tavares leads Spencer Stuart’s Mexico City office in addition to leading the firm’s Consumer Practice in Mexico and the Marketing Officer Practice in Latin America. He also leads practice efforts for the Private Equity Practice in Mexico. In addition, Murillo is a member of the Transportation & Logistics practice. Before Spencer Stuart, Murillo had 13 years of experience in the beverage industry in Brazil, Mexico and China. In this capacity he managed operational turnarounds, post-merger integrations and growth strategies. He also managed the second largest c-store chain in Mexico. In early 2000’s Murillo led the startup and consolidation of one of the largest e-commerce companies in Latin America. Since then, he has been an angel investor and mentor to leaders of several innovative companies in the region. He advises leading private equity and venture capital firms within the region about disruptive business models. Murillo started his career at McKinsey & Company, serving industrial and consumer companies in Brazil and Spain for almost seven years. Murillo has a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from the Brazilian Aeronautics Technological Institute and a M.S. in Management from MIT Sloan School of Management, with a concentration in strategy, innovation and operations. A native Portuguese speaker, Murillo is also fluent in Spanish and English.
