Biography
Derek Holt is a Partner & Managing Director in the Risk practice at AlixPartners, and is based in London. He has over 25 years of experience acting as an expert and economic advisor in the fields of competition litigation and economic regulation.
He is an expert in the economic analysis of network industries, including financial services, utilities, and transport, and has acted on competition matters in relation to a wide range of industrial and consumer sectors. He frequently acts as an expert in litigation proceedings in relation to abuse of dominance, anti-competitive agreements (horizontal and vertical), follow-on damages and collective proceedings.
Derek has acted as a testifying expert witness or economic advisor in matters before courts, regulatory and competition authorities such as the UK High Court, the European Commission, the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (and its predecessor the Competition Commission), various sectoral regulators, the South African Competition Tribunal and various Arbitration panels.
Derek graduated with distinction with an MSc degree in economics from the London School of Economics, having previously completed an honours degree in economics and finance at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has also earned a Postgraduate Diploma with Merit in Competition Economics from Kings College, University of London. He is fluent in English and French.
