Sumio Saito is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Tokyo office and a core member of the Consumer Practice. Sumio has more than 20 years of experience helping find top talent for leading multinational companies. In addition, Sumio has extensive experience performing executive assessments for Japanese companies. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, Sumio spent four years as a senior partner at another leading international search firm where he was a member of the Consumer and Board/CEO Services. He primarily conducted searches for C suite level and executive assessments for Japanese companies. Prior, he spent 10 years at another leading international search firm, culminating as Country Manager for Japan. He led CEO searches for various luxury brands and consumer goods/services companies. Originally, he started his search career with Spencer Stuart focusing on the Consumer Practice. Before his career in search, Sumio was in marketing, sales and franchise planning with PepsiCo in Japan, and earlier, with Nissan Motor Company as a design engineer. Sumio earned an MIM from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird); and both a master’s in material engineering and a bachelor’s in science and engineering from Waseda University. He is a native Japanese speaker and is fluent in English.
