Biography
Jonathan Zhu is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai offices and the regional managing partner of the Healthcare & Life Sciences Practice in Asia Pacific and the Middle East. He is a member of the Healthcare & Life Sciences and Government Affairs practices in China. Jonathan has more than 20 years of professional experience in both the private and public sectors.
Prior to Heidrick & Struggles, Jonathan was a partner with another global executive search firm where he led the life sciences & government affairs practices in China. Early in his career, Jonathan worked for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), reporting to a major general in the USAF, where he gained the fundamental life values of devotion, discipline and teamwork.
Jonathan served on Asia advisory board for Coloplast, a Danish based global medical device company. He has been a trusted advisor to several leading pharmaceutical and medical devices companies in the region.
Jonathan has held senior positions including China country general manager and corporate marketing director for both U.S. and Japanese publicly-listed multinational companies in the industrial and analytical, medical diagnostic industries.
He was one of the first Chinese-American lobbyists working for an established Washington D.C. based government affairs consulting firm. During his tenure, Jonathan advised multinational companies in Sino-America transactions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
He has published papers on the topics of China government affairs, organizational development (OD) and corporate structures in journals such as Pharmaceutical China.
Jonathan was raised in China (Beijing) and educated in the U.S. from high school.
