Allen Shardelow is the partner in charge of Heidrick & Struggles’ Johannesburg office. He has search experience broadly based in South Africa and Africa focusing focus on the consumer industry, and serving clients in the consumer products, retail, media & entertainment, hospitality, tourism and leisure industries, including dot-com companies. His portfolio comprises searches for CEO, general management, and senior marketing positions. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Allen was in the South African Foreign Service, serving in London and New York (United Nations). At the UN, Allen was part of the South African diplomatic presence that presided over the lifting of sanctions. He was part of the first post-apartheid delegation from South Africa to the UN Security Council and has served on numerous South African government delegations at international conferences.
