Biography
Derek Newman is a Senior Associate in WittKieffer’s Leadership Advisory solution who brings a deep background and expertise in leadership assessment and development, organizational strategy, and survey design. His approach to leadership advisory is built on identifying and understanding the psychological factors that drive our behaviors and actions. He is a naturally inquisitive, insightful thought partner who strives to enable executives to better understand themselves, leverage their strengths, and successfully address areas of need. With lifelong ties to healthcare, Derek identifies and aligns with WittKieffer’s mission to improve quality of life through impactful leadership.
Before joining WittKieffer, Derek served as a Consultant for a major leadership advisory firm, specializing in organizational strategy, survey design, and employee experience. He advised clients on their survey programs, from conceptualization through design and implementation, conducted detailed analyses, and delivered survey results and recommendations to executive leadership teams.
Prior to that, Derek was an Analyst for another large global advisory firm, specializing in leadership strategy and assessment. Among many responsibilities, he conducted leadership assessments and synthesized assessment data as the foundation for executive development and strategy sessions. He also led senior leader stakeholder feedback programs, including interviews and data collection, and provided feedback to executives. Early in his career, Derek served in multiple roles within a skilled nursing facility in Chicago’s western suburbs. These positions included Assistant Director of Social Services, Director of the Memory Care Unit, and Lead Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services Coordinator.
Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter and exploring all the great outdoor activities Minnesota has to offer. He is an avid boulderer and casual chess enthusiast who enjoys the culinary arts and a good psychological thriller.
