Biography
Charlie Liu is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Hong Kong and Shanghai offices where he covers the industrial and energy sectors, focusing on chemical and process industries, energy/natural resources, electric and electronics, automotive, capital equipment, and private equity related searches. He leads the chemical materials and energy/natural resources sector in Asia.
Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Charlie was with another leading international executive search firm where he was the chemical materials sector leader for the Asia Pacific and the Shanghai office manager. He worked closely with industrial companies across Asia Pacific, including top Chinese enterprises. Before that, Charlie worked as regional business director for the specialty material group of Honeywell in Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for regional strategy creation, partnership formation, and revenue growth.
Previously, he worked as senior business development manager for Dow Chemical Company and led the new business development programs in Asia Pacific, based in Taiwan. Earlier in his career, he co-founded Changsha BoHua Technology, an internet security software start-up company. Charlie began his career in the telecommunications industry, as a market specialist at Nortel Networks in China, and program and marketing manager at Motorola in the United States.
Charlie is a certified coach under Stakeholder Centered Coaching system by Marshall Goldsmith. He is a certified PMP (Project Management Professional) and a member of the Project Management Institute of America. He is fluent in English and Mandarin.
