Biography
Marnix Boorsma is a principal in Heidrick & Struggles’ Amsterdam office and a member of the Industrial Practice. A former energy executive, as well as Big4 partner, he specializes in both the industrial space and professional services. In addition to board and C-suite searches, he works closely with clients on management appraisals, leadership development, and board effectiveness. Marnix has more than 24 years of first-hand industry and consulting experience, including as CEO, CFO, and non-executive board member. He has worked extensively in the areas of financial management, joint venture management, and business development. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Marnix worked 14 years in line positions and 10 years in consulting roles. He worked in financial leadership roles in Shell’s Upstream and LNG businesses in Europe, Africa, and Asia, partnering with a range of business VPs and EVPs. He was CEO for Airborne Oil & Gas, a PE-backed scale-up for new pipeline technology, and CFO for TransMark Renewables, a start-up in geothermal energy. He was a partner at KPMG, leading two major multinational accounts and delivering various operational excellence projects in the energy sector. Earlier in his career, he gained advisory experience at McKinsey and Kempen Merchant Bank. Marnix lived in three countries (NL, Malaysia, and Singapore) and worked on the ground in a dozen more.
